Sports especially football has been known to be the most unifying tool for peace in the world, it has been idealized as a way to heal wounds, mend fences and rise above differences among cultures and nations.
The second Football for Peace Tournament is an annual event happening second Saturday of July at Burhani sports club in Mombasa County attracting teams to represent the 47 Counties with an aim of promoting peace and cohesion. Long-term aim of the project is to build a community sports centre to help nurture the talents of the less fortunate youth (16 – 25 ) from all the 47 Counties in Kenya and help them earn a living through the use of their talents and skills regardless of tribe, color, religion, county of origin and religion.
Football for Peace is our first contact with a young person; it is where we engage the youth to find out what their needs are and how best we can help them.
Upon completion of the tournament, a group of young people are selected for a three months free programme to equip them with employability skills.
Thereafter they are hooked to our cooperate partners to volunteer on various departments to further their skill set and learn more about work ethics.
